One of the most critical aspects of SEO is ensuring that your website is optimized for search engines. To achieve this, you need to use an SEO plugin to help you optimize your site’s content, titles, meta descriptions, and more. Two of WordPress’s most popular SEO plugins are Rank Math and Yoast. In this blog post, we’ll take a comprehensive look at Rank Math vs Yoast and help you decide which one is right for your website.

What is Rank Math?

Rank Math vs Yoast

Rank Math is a relatively new SEO plugin that was launched in 2018. The plugin is developed by MyThemeShop, a company that has been creating WordPress themes and plugins for over ten years. Rank Math has gained popularity in the WordPress community due to its advanced features, user-friendly interface, and free pricing plan.

What is Yoast?

Rank Math vs Yoast

Yoast SEO is one of the most well-known SEO plugins for WordPress. The plugin was launched in 2008 by Joost de Valk and his team. Yoast SEO offers both free and premium versions, and it has over five million active installations.

Both Rank Math and Yoast offer a range of features that can help you optimize your website for search engines. Here is a comprehensive of the Rank Math vs Yoast:

  1. On-page optimization: Rank Math and Yoast both offer on-page optimization features, including the ability to edit meta titles and descriptions, add focus keywords, and optimize content for readability.
  2. XML sitemaps: Both plugins offer XML sitemap generation, which makes it easier for search engines to crawl and index your website.
  3. Schema markup: Rank Math has the edge over Yoast when it comes to schema markup. The plugin offers a wide range of schema types that you can use to mark up your website’s content. Yoast only offers a limited number of schema types.
  4. Keyword optimization: Rank Math vs Yoast, both offer keyword optimization features, including keyword analysis, density, and placement.

Rank Math vs Yoast: User Interface Comparison

The user interface of an SEO plugin is essential as it determines how easy it is to use the plugin. Here is a comparison of the user interface of Rank Math vs Yoast:

  1. Rank Math: Rank Math has a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate. The plugin offers a step-by-step setup wizard that makes it easy for beginners to configure the plugin. The plugin also offers a clean dashboard that provides an overview of your website’s SEO.
  2. Yoast: Yoast has a cluttered interface that can be overwhelming for beginners. The plugin offers a configuration wizard but is not as user-friendly as Rank Math’s wizard. Yoast’s dashboard is also cluttered, and it can be challenging to find the information you need.

When it comes to optimizing a website for search engines, the use of a powerful SEO plugin can make a significant difference in your website’s search engine rankings. Two of the most popular SEO plugins are Rank Math and Yoast. Both of these plugins have been used by millions of website owners and developers around the world, and they both come with a wide range of features that can help improve your website’s SEO performance. In this article, we will compare the features of Rank Math vs Yoast to help you decide which plugin is the best for your website.

Rank Math vs Yoast: Installation and Configuration

Rank Math and Yoast are both easy to install on your WordPress website. Both of these plugins are available in the WordPress repository, and you can install them directly from your WordPress dashboard. Once installed, both Rank Math and Yoast will guide you through the configuration process with a step-by-step setup wizard. Here is the comparison of the installation of Rank Math vs Yoast

Rank Math has a more user-friendly setup wizard compared to Yoast. Rank Math’s setup wizard is more intuitive and easier to follow. The setup wizard of Rank Math has a feature called “SEO Analysis” which scans your website and shows you the areas that require optimization. You can fix these issues directly from the setup wizard.

Yoast’s setup wizard is also straightforward, but it’s not as user-friendly as Rank Math’s setup wizard. The setup wizard of Yoast requires you to provide more information about your website, and you have to answer a few questions before you can proceed with the setup.

Overall, Rank Math has an advantage in terms of ease of installation and configuration. Its setup wizard is more intuitive and provides more value by identifying the areas that need optimization.

Rank Math vs Yoast: User Interface

Both Rank Math and Yoast have a user-friendly interface that allows you to optimize your website’s SEO performance easily. However, Rank Math’s user interface is more streamlined and easier to navigate compared to Yoast.

Rank Math has a feature called “SEO Dashboard” that gives you an overview of your website’s SEO performance. The dashboard displays important SEO metrics such as your website’s SEO score, organic traffic, and the number of indexed pages. The dashboard also has a “Quick Edit” feature that allows you to make changes to your website’s metadata without leaving the dashboard.

Yoast’s user interface is also user-friendly, but it has a more cluttered interface compared to Rank Math. Yoast’s interface has a lot of tabs and options that can be overwhelming for beginners.

Overall, Rank Math has an advantage in terms of the user interface. Its interface is more streamlined and easier to navigate compared to Yoast.

Features

Both Rank Math and Yoast come with a wide range of features that can help you optimize your website for search engines.

Keyword Optimization: Rank Math has a feature called “Focus Keyword” that allows you to optimize your content for a specific keyword. The plugin analyzes your content and provides suggestions for improving your keyword optimization. Yoast has a similar feature called “Focus Keyphrase” that provides suggestions for optimizing your content for a specific keyphrase.

Content Analysis: Rank Math’s content analysis feature provides a comprehensive analysis of your content’s readability, keyword density, and other important SEO factors. The plugin provides suggestions for improving your content’s readability and keyword optimization. Yoast’s content analysis feature is also comprehensive, but it’s not as detailed as Rank Math’s content analysis.

Schema Markup: Rank Math has a built-in schema markup feature that allows you to add schema markup to your website’s pages and posts. The plugin provides a wide range of schema types such as Article, Blog Posting, Local Business, Product, and many more. Yoast also has a schema markup feature, but it’s not as comprehensive as Rank Math’s schema markup feature.

Rank Math vs Yoast: Pricing Comparison

One of the major differences between Rank Math and Yoast is their pricing model.

Rank Math is a freemium plugin, which means that the basic features of the plugin are available for free. However, if you want to access advanced features such as Google Search Console integration, Advanced WooCommerce SEO, Local SEO, and Advanced Schema Markup, you will need to purchase the Rank Math Pro version. The Rank Math Pro version is priced at $59 per year for a single website, $199 per year for 5 websites, and $499 per year for unlimited websites.

On the other hand, Yoast also has a freemium pricing model. The basic features of the plugin such as content analysis, meta descriptions, and social media previews are available for free. However, if you want to access advanced features such as internal linking suggestions, redirect manager, and multiple focus keywords, you will need to purchase the Yoast Premium version. The Yoast Premium version is priced at $89 per year for a single website and $267 per year for up to 5 websites.

Overall, Rank Math is more affordable compared to Yoast. The Rank Math Pro version is priced lower than Yoast Premium, and it offers more advanced features such as Google Search Console integration and Advanced Schema Markup.

Rank Math vs Yoast: Speed

I am obsessed with speed. Everything I do, from a development point of view, is geared towards speed.

I like using as few plugins as possible to optimize my site speed.

Unfortunately, an SEO plugin is one that you absolutely must have. It’s one of only 6 that I use with the rest of my WordPress resources.

When it comes to speed, it’s no competition: Rank Math wins by a landslide.

When I run a query monitor to find slow-loading plugins, Yoast is always at the top of the list. Their plugin is bloated, overrun with ads, and very slow.

In fact, as of this writing, Yoast has 87,200 lines of code and Rank Math only has 51,300. But where Rank Math shines is in the plugin zip size at 2.85 MB vs Yoast’s 7.18 MB.

Part of the reason for this bloat from Yoast is that they constantly show you ads to upgrade to their premium, so much so that someone wrote an entirely separate plugin to hide them.

Rank Math vs Yoast: Schema

Rank Math makes it super easy to add schema to WordPress. They have 18 different types of schema out of the box. This makes it super simple to markup content without needing an entirely separate schema plugin.

Rank Math and Yoast are two of the most popular SEO plugins for WordPress, and both offer features to help users implement Schema markup on their websites. Schema markup is a type of structured data that helps search engines better understand the content on a webpage, and can lead to improved search engine rankings and enhanced search results.

When it comes to Schema markup, both Rank Math and Yoast offer similar features, such as the ability to add Schema markup to specific pages, posts, and other types of content on a WordPress site.

However, Rank Math has the edge over Yoast when it comes to Schema markup, as it offers a wider range of Schema types and allows users to customize Schema markup more easily. Rank Math also has an auto-schema feature that automatically adds Schema markup to a website’s content without requiring manual input.

Overall, while both plugins offer Schema markup features, Rank Math is the better choice for users who are looking for a more robust and customizable Schema markup solution.

On top of that, you can add schema from other websites or create your own custom schema.

Yoast (or any other SEO plugin) doesn’t offer this in their free tier.

Rank Math vs Yoast: Analytics

Rank Math analytics make it easy to pull in Google Search Console data and show you which keywords your site ranks for, and what the general trend is.

This does add a bit of extra code to your site, but all in all, it’s nice to have a snapshot of your keyword data on your website dashboard.

Yoast doesn’t have this feature.

How to switch from Yoast

If you’re ready to take the plunge to Rank Math, and already use Yoast (or any other SEO plugin), thankfully it’s very easy to move all your data.

Rank Math comes with a Setup Wizard specifically designed to help you implement all your Yoast settings for every post and page, and even global settings.

They couldn’t make it any easier.

Conclusion

In conclusion of Rank Math vs Yoast, both Rank Math and Yoast are powerful SEO plugins that can help you optimize your website for search engines. They both have a wide range of features that can improve your website’s SEO performance, and they both have a user-friendly interface that makes it easy to optimize your website’s content.

However, when it comes to installation and configuration, user interface, features, and pricing, Rank Math has a slight advantage over Yoast. Rank Math’s setup wizard is more intuitive, its interface is more streamlined, and its advanced features are more affordable compared to Yoast.

Ultimately, the choice between Rank Math and Yoast will depend on your specific needs and preferences. If you’re looking for a more affordable SEO plugin that’s easy to use and comes with advanced features, Rank Math is the way to go. However, if you prefer a more established plugin with a wide range of features, Yoast may be the better option for you.
